AURA WITH AN M

HPP

I just got this beautiful dress in the mail yesterday. It is my new favorite piece of clothing. The collar makes me so happy. I’m not sure why but it’s a detail I always look at.

Gora Gallery

Last Friday, Jk, Vince, Jessica and I had our exhibition. As you might know, I’ve been working on this project for a while now. Never having picked up a painting brush before this class, the end results have made me glad that I flirted with the arts.
These pieces were inspired by photos taken by Daniel Pelissier for Society Suckers Zine. These authentics express the rawness and intensity of Hardcore’s stomping, chanting, and dancing. Each are named after influential members of Montreal’s Hardcore scene (Nick Hardcore, Benbass, Fred’Emup). The colors reflect their different personalities, and the cuts of the sneaker express their important roots to the scene.

Heroine

This came out of nowhere. Heroine: T-shirts for girls and some boys. Hand screened in a super small quantity. The graphics are a bit big but we really like them that way. Inspired by Justin R Saunders and the first two years of his www.jrsrules.blogspot.com. Thank god for JJJJound, American classic, forced rarity, luxury brands, decadence, street bombing, women, pugilists, fallen heroes, New York city, Lake Como, and rap music. T-shirts are available at Off The Hook
It’s a celebration.

Sometimes

On the morning of August 6 2009, Montreal graphic designer, Dylan Adair, woke up to celebrate his daughter’s birthday and got the news that we had lost John Hughes. He was so bummed out that he watched a John Hughes film each night for a week. The outcome was these John Hughes tribute t-shirts for Sometimes. Sometimes is a side project created by writer and photographer Paul 107. ‘It’s an excuse to make stuff,’ Paul 107 says. ‘Often times people have dialogues about making stuff but it never actually happens. Well, Sometimes is a vehicle for that. We are going to make stuff and help others make stuff as well.’

These are available for girls and some boys at Off The Hook.

Old Gold #1

I woke up this morning to what is about to be 20 inches of snow. I’m on a quest to find boots that can last me through Montreal’s harsh winters. I have a few in mind.
I bought these never-been-worn (at least) 10 years old Hi-Tec 50 Peaks boots last year in Brooklyn for no real reason. I don’t think I can bring myself to wear them. They are too ugly for me to wear, yet perfect for my old gold shoe collection. If you’re the type of person who has a collection of OG runners like I do, then you’ll appreciate posts like these.

n.b. This picture was taken in Tommy Rebel’s basement. What a weekend haha.

I’ve Got That Supertouch

February 25, 2006
Me/JJ/Dr.Know/Darryl/Earl
Bad Brains show at CBGB, NYC.

+ It was also during that trip that I walked into DQM and Supreme for the first time.
+ Wore my first pair of AM90s the whole weekend (picked those up in Philly).
+ Ate my first turkey burger at Dojo’s (which became an obsessions everytime I’m in NYC)
+ Unforgettable moments.

Chan Marshall

I’ve been told several times that I look like a mix between Cat Power and Feist. I’m thinking “yeah right I wish”.

I completely adore Cat Power. Her minimalist style, sparse guitar  and piano playing, and breathy vocals are perfect. Have you ever seen this commercial or heard this cover? There is absolutely nothing wrong with what she does to her music. Nothing.

Paul needs no introduction. He’s known for his great works: Bully and All City. Probably one of my favorite photographers, storyteller, and friend in the city. How many people do you know that has written a book?
His latest photos, Photographs inspired by the rap music that once inspired me. is being exhibited at 184 Rideau Street. Be sure to check it out.
