One of my very best friends was living in the Holland for a few months. We had huge plans to go snowboarding in the Alps of France while he was there. Unfortunately the timing and the money budget was an issue. It was impossible for me to leave for Europe at that time.
So he went to heaven without me.

Vogue Japan was given to me as a gift in reponse to my previous post about Lula Magazine. 20 pounds, 3 magazines, and about 30$ later I found out that this November Issue was MADE for me. I can’t read any of the articles, so the images do all the story telling.
From cover to cover (reading it backwards of course) Japan schools me on different boy meets girl looks and styles: a masculine look for a woman’s silhouette. Perfect.

Fremont is an LA based men’s and women’s wear label by Devin Carlson, Jessica Loria, and Brittany Pham. Realizing there was a gap in the marketplace, they created this brand by taking things to the next level. Fremont embraces a loose fitting aesthetic with an emphasis on basics. They have tailored some of their pieces for the Hollywood Elite as well as for some of their close friends. Their Spring/Summer collection is equally stylish with a simple vibe. There is a focus on a variety of dresses and skirts ranging from light weight materials to floral and polka-dot prints. A perfect look for a late night out with the gals!

A few months ago, I stumbled upon British magazine Lula. It caught the corner of my eye from the array of magazines on the newsstand, mostly because of how intriguing I found their cover page to be. I opened the paper book too see an interview with A.P.C. Madra co-designer Jessica Ogden. A fashion shoot with Comme Des Garcons and Acne in the mix of things. Sold.
I find it such a struggle trying to find a fashion magazine for a gal like me. Those Haute-Couture Magazine’s don’t really do anything for me. Don’t get me wrong, from Vogue to Elle are all fantastic reading material. You know what to expect from mainstay like these. Each of them have their own personality, a different culture of sharing relevant information. However, it’s not Chanel’s Spring/Summer 2010 fashion that hits home for me.
From cover to cover Lula exhibits what goes on behind the curtains of the fashion industry. It is filled with interviews and articles on Models, art directors, fashion designers, actresses, and artist.
Alright so now there is Lula in life. Lets find me a women’s equivalent of Japan’s HUgE Magazine. That’s what I am looking for.

Folk is about making clean, honest understated garments with a meticulous eye for color, fabric selection and design detail. Creations are simple everyday clothing with subtle, innovative and sometimes playful detailing. Shofolk their shoe brand, is designed by the same team and has the same philosophy combining unique shapes with natural Italian leathers to create functional, stylish and well designed footwear. Shoes are made in a small family owned factory in the heart of shoe making country in North Portugal. They have 60 years of experience in hand crafting shoes. Production is limited to keep the quality levels high with a nice by product.
Their spring/summer 2010 collection features high quality leathers such as floather cow skin, goal suede, vegetable tanned oil and waxed finishing using in the saddlery trade. What’s amazing about Folk is that they take into consideration that “spring” isn’t the same in every country, so they offer sandals, heavy boots, and booties suited for your/my type of weather.

What started out as an inside joke turned into a posse. My boy Carlo aka Brega from Italy and his crew (hardcore kids) started this a few years ago. It’s purpose I don’t know. Brega hits me up yesterday and tells me he gets an interview on Cocal4life. If you can read Italian read Interview here. He’s fucked up.
Carlo, sei davvero un cojon.
